POSITION: Organizer
LOCATION: Travis County
EMPLOYMENT TERM: This is a full-time salaried position eligible for benefits, starting as soon as possible
DESCRIPTION: The Travis County Democratic Party (TCDP) seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time Organizer position to coordinate, build infrastructure, and empower leadership and volunteers in Travis county. This position will be employed by TCDP and reports to TCDP’s Executive Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, train, and activate volunteers by engaging in issue advocacy, voter education, and electoral campaign activities.
Build effective volunteer leaders and teams and communicate with volunteer leaders on a regular basis.
Implement effective programs, actions, and campaigns to increase voter turnout.
Organize and execute field tactics such as phone banks, contactless canvasses, digital organizing events, and other community events such as digital house parties, town hall meetings, volunteer orientations, and leadership development trainings.
Identify student leaders and coordinate outreach events on college campuses to educate and activate college students.
Attend community meetings, conferences, and events on behalf of TCDP.
Develop meaningful relationships with community leaders, allied organizations, and coalition groups to build the base of support in the community.
Serve as the local representative for the TCDP within the community you are assigned.
Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs.
Additional duties, as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALITIES:
At least one cycle of organizing experience. Experience managing organizers, volunteer leads, or organizing interns is a strong plus.
Must be a strong leader able to inspire and motivate staff and campaigns, as well as work collaboratively with peers, direct reports, and stakeholders.
Expertise with Voter Activation Network (VAN), VoteBuilder, Mobilize, and Google Suite.
Passion for recruiting and training volunteers, with a goal of empowering them to manage and own future projects.
Ability to “manage up” with frequent communication, agreement on expectations, and adaptable work styles.
Self-starting big-picture thinker, driven to develop programs that last beyond one cycle.
Essential time management skills and successful multitasking; ability to organize time around multiple projects at once.
Comfort working irregular hours, including some evenings and weekends, across the county.
Familiarity with County Party structures and needs.
Proven multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from yourself in meaningful, relevant and productive ways.
A firm commitment to building a stronger Democratic community across Travis County.
Required: Reliable transportation and capability to regularly travel across Travis County.

Salary range is $4,000 - $4,500 per month depending on experience plus:
